ABOUT US

CRAFT FOLLOWS FUNCTION, BEAUTY FOLLOW PASSION

FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS…

…the MEISTERSTRASSE HANDMADE leads to outstanding workshops, selected manufactories, regional culinary specialities and selected crafts products.

#BUYLOCAL…

…since then is our driving force to discovering craft treasures and present them on this platform: renowned traditional enterprises as well as many local secrets. They are all united by their PASSION FOR CRAFTSMANSHIP.

THE ENCHANTMENT OF THE HANDMADE…

…is what we love: genuine and authentic products, knowing their provenance and their conditions of production, with an emphatic person standing behind it all.

CRAFTSMANSHIP is "(Hu)ManWork"

… and it creates products that inspire and fascinate emotionally, especially in our digitalised world.  MEISTERSTRASSE satisfies the desire for natural, genuine, exquisite,  sustainable and custom-made, individual products.

SHOWCASE OF REGIONS

MEISTERSTRASSE brings the regional world of crafts with their local specialities and features to your home. We are looking for out-of-the-ordinary products, makers and masters recommending you warmly under the seal of the MEISTERSTRASSE.

THE MEISTERSTRASSE OWES ITS ORIGINS…

…in the heart of Austria, in the Salzkammergut; a region where craftsmanship always had a high significance. The first 9 master craftsmen being member of MEISTERSTRASSE came from the small village of Bad Goisern. Now the MEISTERSTRASSE presents more than 6.000 craft enterprises with their products, but we never forget our roots.

NICOLA AND CHRISTOPH RATH…

…are backing the dynamic development of MEISTERSTRASSE as an international brand for craftsmanship with all their passion. They regularly publish printed guides presenting selected craftsmen and manufactories as travel guides or directories for certain topics and branches.

FAMILY HISTORY

Great-grandfather Stefan Rath led the family business J&L Lobmeyr, founded in 1823, purveyor to the Court of Austria-Hungary, during the first decades of the 20th century. With his uncompromisingly high demands on quality and aesthetics he lay the theoretic groundwork for our work. He was one of the founding fathers of the famous craft networks "Wiener Werkstätte" and "Österreichischer Werkbund". That's why we love tradition-minded and family-run companies, which draw their entrepreneurial power from the creativity of past generations and have set standards on an international scale.
